PICNIC AREA

You are very welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds with their spectacular views from the top of the 'White Cliffs' over the English Channel.

GARDENS

Over 80 acres of grounds featuring battlements; curtain walls and other military items. There is plenty of room to run and play in our large open areas. Kites are welcome.

FOOD & DRINKS

GREAT TOWER CAFE

The Great Tower Cafe was built in 1901, and incorporates some of the inner bailey wall. Here we sell a wide selection of hot and cold snacks, sandwiches, and home-made soups, along with a range of cakes, bakes and cream teas. Perfect for a light lunch or for a snack or drink on the go, and a great place to rest after the excitement of meeting Henry II.

WARTIME TEA ROOM

This small tearoom is built into the original Napoleonic tunnel complex, along with the shop. Choose from a range of hot snacks, sandwiches, cakes and ice-cream either before or after your tour. Or you can pop in to the tearoom even if you're not visiting the tunnels.

NAAFI RESTURANT

Once used by soldiers stationed here at Dover, the NAAFI Restaurant is housed in the 1868 Regimental Institute. There are great views down to the wartime tunnels, the port of Dover and across the Channel. Here we offer a selection of hot lunches, as well as sandwiches, freshly made soup, cakes, bakes and cream teas. This is the place, if you are after a more substantial meal.

ICE CREAM PARLOUR

Open on sunny afternoons throughout the summer, the ice-cream parlour is in a converted Victorian cold store next to the NAAFI Restaurant. We offer a selection of Local Soft Scoop and Impulse Ice Cream as well as a variety of soft drinks.
